Said the Moon to the Sun

Said the moon to the sun:

My burning sun,

Forgive me if your light frightens me.

It is not because you burn, nor because you shine too brightly. It is because your light reaches every corner of me. Every crack, every crevice, every scar I had carefully hidden beneath the comfort of night is suddenly revealed.

I stand naked before your brilliance, with nowhere left to hide.

The shadows I once called home dissolve beneath your gaze. The places I convinced myself no one would ever see are illuminated, laid bare without mercy. Every flaw, every fracture, every part of me I thought was safest in darkness now glows beneath your warmth.

It is terrifying to be known so completely.

Not because your light is cruel, but because it is honest.

And honesty leaves me defenseless.

So if I pull away, if I retreat behind clouds or turn my face from dawn, do not mistake it for a lack of love. I am only learning how to survive being seen.

For you have shown me that even the darkest parts of me are not beyond the reach of light.

Perhaps, one day, I will stop mistaking exposure for ruin.

As I discover that what your light reveals is not my ugliness, but the shape of a soul that has spent far too long believing it belonged only to the night, I surrender to you.

I find myself no longer shrinking from your gaze.

Instead, I lean into it.

I bask in the warmth of your embrace, letting your light settle upon every hidden part of me. Your rays are like gentle hands teaching me that I was never meant to remain in darkness. In your quiet radiance, I hear whispers carried on every beam: You are enough. You have always been enough.

And for the first time, I do not fear being seen.

I fall in love with the version of myself your light has patiently revealed—and with the sun who never asked me to become anything other than what I already was.

I cherish the whispers carried upon your golden rays. They no longer expose me—they embrace me. Where I once found terror in your brilliance, I now find home.

You have taught me that love does not ask the shadows to disappear before it arrives. It simply shines until even the darkest corners remember they were always worthy of light.

So let me orbit you without fear. Let me love you without hiding. For if I am the moon, then every part of me longs to reflect the light that first taught me how beautiful it is to be seen.

Yours in darkness and light

Luna
