Trial by Fire

Now you walk straight into the furnace,

to leave your name with the judges

who will demand your surrender.

The embers bit her heels,

the law called her a fool,

but she broke open the sky

just to find the path back to her sun.

Now you stand before me,

smelling of smoke and brimstone

with ashes in your hair and

my heart in your hands.
